The Public Records Office at Kew have now made available a new version of the BBC Domesday project from 1986 - http://www.pro.gov.uk/about/preservation/digital/domesday/default.htm - the scheme to rescue and convert the data has been underway for some time. At the time it was produced on Hi-tech equipment comprising of a BBC Micro computer and a laser disc (LV-ROM) drive. This equipment has long been obsolete so a project was set up to rescue the data and make it available in a usable form - so now it is available on DVD-ROM for Windows computers - Bravo for saving a piece of digital heritage!
